Returning back to sport following an injury is never easy.

Most athletes will receive the advice to just “ease back into it” without ever truly understanding what that means or how to go about it. As a result, they’re now more likely to have a setback in their progress.

What we’ve found to be more effective is to create some structure around this process and assess the variables and metrics we can actually measure.

Volume, speed, RPE, etc. These are all ways to track whether or not we’re progressively building and re-introducing our athletes back to their sport.
